Porsche Paint to Sample repair: colour identification before a paint quote

Prepare a Porsche Paint to Sample repair enquiry with colour records, finish identification and panel photographs before discussing a paint match.

A Paint to Sample colour needs more identification than “blue Porsche” or a photograph from a configurator. Porsche offers this programme for distinctive colour choices, but a programme name is not a complete refinishing instruction for an individual vehicle. The repair plan must account for the actual finish and condition of the car.

Establish the original specification

Start with the colour name, available paint identification and original specification documents. Supply the model and year as well. Screen images, compressed messaging photos and photographs taken under coloured workshop lighting can alter how a finish appears. They help show the location of damage, but cannot settle a final colour match.

Ask whether any panel has been repaired or repainted before. An existing difference between neighbouring panels should be documented before new work is agreed, rather than attributed automatically to the proposed repair.

Show the whole repair area

Provide one photograph of the full side or end of the car, one of the affected panel and a closer view of the damage. Use neutral light where practical and avoid filters. Describe whether the mark is a surface scratch, chipped area or a dent accompanied by paint damage; a photo-based impression still needs inspection.

Agree the process and boundaries

Discuss how the colour and finish will be assessed and how the proposed repair area will be defined. The quotation should separate necessary bodywork from painting, identify the panels included and explain any adjacent-area work being proposed. A promise of an invisible match before inspecting the existing finish is not a useful specification.

Check the handover against the agreed scope

Keep the original enquiry photographs and written estimate. At handover, review the finish and repaired area under suitable light and ask about aftercare relevant to the material used. Do not apply generic polishing advice to an unidentified special finish. A careful record of the agreed work is more useful than a colour name alone.

Discuss your vehicle

See the Porsche information page or send a model-specific enquiry. Confirm the proposed work and vehicle suitability before booking.
